Vertical deformation from an elastic dislocation model of the seismologically determined 1935 source.  This compares favorably with our paleogeodetic data from coral microatolls (filled circles with values).  Higher amplitudes from the paleogeodetic data may indicate substantial post-seismic slip within a year or two of the earthquake.  Uplift of about 10 cm at the northwesternmost site in 1984 suggests that 1984 source was beneath there.
