IndonesiaSumtra outreach

Current TO educational outreach efforts focus on distributing posters, brochures, and GPS station data sheets to people living on the Mentawai and Batu islands. These materials explain the regional tectonic processes and the purpose of GPS stations. (See Sumatra Plate Boundary Project Outreach)

Nepal

TO geodesy specialist John Galetzka has given many presentations in Nepal about earthquake hazards and safety. Watch his latest presentation (March 29, 2012):

"Nepal: Japan-size earthquakes,

In collaboration with colleagues from the Nepal Department of Mines and Geology, the TO produced a brochure that explains the seismological network in Nepal, which is used throughout the country as a reference guide by government departments and the general public.
